Thanks for stopping by. Why don’t we get better acquainted? Here are three things you should know about us.

Our name

What’s in a name? Turns out, a lot! Being called Citizen comes with a responsibility—to our fellow citizens, both here and around the globe. It means fostering an inclusive culture and telling impactful stories that resonate with audiences. When those things happen, everything else falls into place.

Our values

The Modern Citizen is courageous. We build up rather than break down. We make every conversation count—to inform, educate or make life easier for our fellow Citizens. We are them, and they are us. We champion equity. We set the standard. We do what’s right.

Our mission

We want to make every conversation count, because conversations lead to action and action leads to meaningful impact. We put in the time and energy it takes to be proactive and make the most of every opportunity—which we often find in unexpected places. It’s what gives us a leg up as storytellers. Oh, and there are no high-fives until we see real results.

Meet the leadership team that drives Citizen.

Our team

Laura Bremer

Laura Bremer

President, U.S.

Laura’s work philosophy can be summed up by a quote from Helen Keller: “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” As the U.S. President, she’s been pushing the boundaries of earned and influencer marketing, which has led to the team’s YoY growth. Her people-first mentality is strong at work and even stronger at home, where she’s the ultimate cheerleader—just ask her kids.

Josh Budd

Josh Budd

Chief Creative Officer

Josh joined Citizen in 2021, the same year he was honoured as one of the World’s Most Awarded Creatives. His work has been recognized by Cannes, the Clios and the Sabres, and was once named one of Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas. Josh calls Toronto home and enjoys basketball, comedy, and pretending to be knowledgeable about wine.

Christopher Burns

Christopher Burns

Head of Finance, Citizen Relations Global & Vice President, Business Finance & Administration

Christopher’s personal motto is: “It’s not about how good I may think I am; it’s always about how much better I still can become.” He puts this philosophy into practice by balancing his work life—which capitalizes on his experience in operations, finance, and strategic planning for major global brands—with his love of family, close friends, books and miniature cars.

Mark Cater

Mark Cater

President, EMEA

A public relations leader in brand strategy, reputation, advisory and integrated marketing communications, Mark thrives on creating campaigns for global brands and businesses undergoing change and transformation. Having lived and worked in the US and Canada, today
you’ll find Mark on the south-east coast of the UK, exploring the English countryside in his classic German sports car.

Nick Cowling

Nick Cowling

CEO

Nick is a self-proclaimed gym rat, an avid gamer, an aspiring woodworker—and Citizen’s fearless CEO! He’s our leader in driving the vision and business strategy for the agency and ensuring it always delivers on its mission to Make Every Conversation Count. Nick also chairs the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Council for Plus Company Canada and acts as an advisor to the Equality Fund.

Jenn Duggan

Jenn Duggan

President, Canada

Jenn is our very own Ted Lasso. She heads our Canadian (English) business with limitless can-do energy. While she’s led many award-winning programs for major global brands, she’s most proud to champion the personal growth of her teams. She empowers every citizen to step up and seize opportunities without fear of failure. Her whoodle, Archie, just wagged his tail in agreement.

Erin Georgieff

Erin Georgieff

Managing Partner, U.S. Growth and West Coast Operations

Not only does Erin oversee Citizen’s West Coast offices, she focuses on US growth with current and prospective clients and the teams that support them. Her passion for travel, cooking and gadgets has helped bolster some of the best brands in the biz. Erin hails from Canada but has been stateside for 20 years—guess you could say she’s an “Ameri-Can” Citizen.

Sue Jackman

Sue Jackman

SVP, Marketing

Sue has marketed everything from cream cheese and hair colour to wheelchairs and insurance across Canada and the UK. Sue proudly leads the brand marketing and communications for Citizen Relations worldwide. When she’s not competitively eating or running impromptu marathons, Sue teaches Strategic Market Communications to MBA and Master of Marketing students at the Schulich School of Business.

Crystalyn Stuart-Loayza

Crystalyn Stuart-Loayza

Chief Digital Officer

Crystalyn Stuart-Loayza is a passionate digital transformationalist focused on helping brands supercharge programs with digital to create game-changing experiences and results. Over the course of her 20 years in digital marketing, she’s been an early social media pioneer and a leader in digital content, and is currently a specialist in building interactive experiences that explore the intersection of art and data. Most recently, she’s partnered with several leading organizations like All Tech is Human to lead the charge in Web3-enabled digital comms. In her “spare time,” she’s travelling the world with her five kids, skiing and playing around with AI art.

Daryl McCullough

Daryl McCullough

Chairman, Emeritus

Daryl dedicated 30 years of his career with Citizen and more than a decade as its CEO and Chair. Today, from his home in Los Angeles, he is actively consulting and working with startups, top executives, and other worthy institutions. He’s been named “PR Person of Year” by PRSA-LA, a Cannes Lions PR Juror, and a Page Society member, but his proudest claim to fame is as husband to George Griffin and co-Dad to their mini-Bernedoodle Ferdinand.

Kevin Wagman

Kevin Wagman

Managing Director, Experiential

With 25 years of experience, Kevin leads the Citizen Experiential team in developing and producing award-winning experiential events, disruptive marketing and promotion programs, and cutting-edge consumer engagements across the globe. When not dreaming up the next big idea, Kevin spends time with George-Michael the Shih Tzu, whose dream is to be featured in Horse & Hound magazine.
